Brief History
The Glasgow Museum of Transport is situated in the west end of Glasgow. The Museum is owned by Glasgow City Council and is located within the Kelvin Hall. Founded in 1964, it has many exhibits of national and international importance. The Kelvin Hall is reported to have been used as a morgue during The Blitz.

The Investigation
As the museum is such a large building, we decided it would be better to concentrate on the street and cinema areas. From the information given, these seemed to be the most active areas of paranormal events. We were joined on the investigation by Kathleen Manson, a reporter for the Evening Times and her photographer.

The Street
Inside the Museum, there is a re-creation of a 1930’s Glasgow Street. As soon as we walked onto the street, we all noticed the distinct change in atmosphere. Complete with cobbled road and authentic shops and vehicles, it seemed as though we had taken a step back in time. There have been many unexplained events in this area. People have been seen walking along the street and then mysteriously vanishing and the screams of a young girl, have been heard by staff on several occasions. We began by taking temperature and EMF readings, with no unusual results. We used digital cameras and camcorders and managed to capture many light anomalies, most of which seemed to be around one particular area.
For the first time in our investigations, we decided to try using a Communication Board, in the hope that we might get some activity. Unfortunately, we got only very slight movements from this. We did manage to capture quite a few orbs on our digital camcorder and digital still cameras, which only seemed to start when the team began using the Communication Board. During our communication attempt with the board we managed to capture a voice saying the name “Ian” on one of our digital voice recorders (Click EVP file 1 at the top of this page to listen). Just outside the street in the main hall we had taken lots of photos, on reviewing the photos we seem to have captured the shadow of a man inside one of the trams. This is one of the best photos we have ever captured to date. Click here to view the photo.

The Cinema
The Cinema area of the street has been the subject of much activity in the past including electrical appliances switching on and off by themselves, and some of the seats in the cinema flip down as if some one is sitting on them. The cinema seemed to have a very different type of atmosphere to the rest of the street. It was very cold in the room and we were told by a member of staff that the cinema never heats up. We decided that this would be good place lock off some digital camcorders and voice recording equipment.. We also left a motion sensor switched on. While we were setting up our equipment we noticed that one of the seats was down which we were adamant was not down 5 minutes earlier, an interesting start indeed. We captured many unexplainable noises during this time, one of which is very loud and sounds like a person sighing very near the mic (Click EVP file 2 at the top of this page to listen). Later in the investigation, we spent some time sitting in the cinema. We did a séance and also used the Communication Board. We persevered for a while but felt that we were not making much progress. However, when we looked through the footage, we discovered that we had captured several light anomalies (See our video files at the top of the page). Again, these orbs only seemed to be appearing when we were attempting communication.

The Glasgow Transport Museum is a great location that has had many reported paranormal sightings and experiences. Our investigation certainly yielded some results but on the whole we felt that the museum was rather quiet on the night that we attended. A very important aspect of Paranormal Investigations is to be patient and don’t expect things just to happen because you are there, even the most active of locations will be quiet sometimes. We would certainly like to return to the Museum to carry out another investigation some time in the future.

We would like to say thank you to Glasgow City Council for the chance to investigate this fantastic location, and to the staff at the Glasgow Museum of Transport for their warm welcome and hospitality.

This is just a brief summary of our full investigation report.
