Malcolm In The Middle - Guest Room
Base Temp – 15 degrees

Mark, Lisa & Domenic commenced the investigation by conducting experiments in one of the guest rooms, 'Malcolm In The Middle'. Lisa filmed the experiments using a Mini DV camcorder. Mark and Domenic set up an array of EVP recording equipment inclduing digital and analogue recorders with various microphones, the amplified sound was monitored through headphones. We sat quietly and asked for some communication. During this vigil, Mark experienced a heavy feeling, light headedness, cold sensations, tingling sensations on his left hand, a heavy feeling on his chest and some difficulty in breathing. He also felt the uncomfortable feeling that there was someone standing behind him at one point. It should be pointed out that Mark felt fine during the rest of the investigation, both before and after this vigil. Something was seen moving next to the door but unfortunately this was not picked up on the camcorder footage. The team continued their experiments by asking questions in the hope of capturing replies on their recorders. The following anomalous voices were picked up on the recorders during these experiments, "Happy", "someone help me", "hes laughing at you", and "nae bother". As well as trying to receive information on the audio recorders pertaining to the paranormal activity in the building, the team asked questions to attempt to find out more about our communicators. In one question Mark asked, "what do you see in this room" and was immediately met with the reply "he thinks I'm stupid". This answer does not seem to be a direct reply to the team but a comment made to 'someone else'. At one point during these experiments, all of the team heard a distinct whistling noise and luckily, this was picked up on our camcorder footage, see Video File 1. Although cold sensations were felt during these experiments, the room temperature remained constant and EMF readings remianed normal. Nothing unusual was picked up on still photographs.
Dining Room
The next part of the investigation involved Mark, Lisa, Domenic, Sam and Jules attempting to use the communication board in the dining room area. The communication board is an invaluable tool if used properly and can be used in conjunction with EVP experiments to compare any information received. The team spent quite some time persevering with this method of communication but only sensed very slight movements of the planchette. It was suggested that as the house was formerly a manse, it was possible that this form of communication was not viewed in very good light. We ended this session with no conclusive results and decided to move to the Penthouse guest room for more experiments.
Penthouse - Guest Room

The team moved into the Penthouse guest room to conduct more experiments. Mark, Lisa, Domenic with owners Sam and Jules sat quietly and asked out for some communication. Mark and Domenic again set up an array of audio recording equipment for EVP experiments and proceded to ask a series of relevant questions in the hope of picking up replies. The following anomalous voices were captured on the audio recording equipment during these experiments, "Robert Johnston" and "will somebody get my coat". During these experiments several members of the team felt cold spots that we could not find an explanation for. These cold spots seemed to come and go throughout the time that we spent in this room and actually felt like a very distinctive breeze at one point. Although these cold spots were sensed by our team, the temperature in the room remained constant and no unusual EMF readings were picked up. Nothing unusual was picked up on still photographs in this room.
Locked Off Camcorder – Malcolm In The Middle
During another experiment, the team decided to leave a locked off night vision camcorder filming in this guest room. The camcorder footage produced very little in the way of any visual phenomena but there was one strange noise picked up by the microphone on the camcorder, see Video File 2. This noise was quite bizarre to say the least, it sounds to be rather close to the camcorder. The team also left a trigger object which was found to have moved slightly as if to twist during this lock off experiment. Motion sensors that were set around the room during this experiment were not activated at any point.
Locked Off Camcorder – Penthouse
A night vision camcorder was locked off in the Penthouse guest room in a bid capture strange activity in the team's absence. The camcorder istelf was fitted to an oscillating stand that panned the room back and forward to leave no corner of the room unsighted. On reviewing this footage, two moving light anomalies were picked up in the hour that camcorder was recording, see Video File 3 and Video file 4. Nothing unusual was picked up by the camcorder's microphone.
Having spent quite some time on these experiments without managing to get to every area of the building, the team decided to arrange for a second investigation to take place on 17th February 2007.
Investigation 2
Date - Saturday 17th February 2007

Team – Mark, Lisa, Frances, Lynda (Psychic Medium) and Christine (Psychic Medium)
Psychic Walkround
The team began the investigation by conducting a walkround of the entire building to see what Psychic Mediums Lynda and Christine could sense. The information that was picked up by both Lynda and Christine is detailed below.
Dining Room - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 13 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
Lynda picked up on a woman who was very busy and a little girl standing in the doorway. She also sensed a white cat sitting underneath the window.
TV Lounge - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 10 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
Lynda sensed that there was a big fireplace and armchair in this room at one time. The room currently has 2 settees and several bean bags and assorted chairs. Lynda felt that there was a man standing in the doorway watching us. She felt that he would often be felt hovering around just watching people.
Hallway - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 16-19 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
Going up the staircase, Lynda picked up on a woman in a white dress with long blonde hair. She felt that the woman was very sad and that she was waiting for someone. Lynda had the impression that this was more likely to be residual energy rather than an active spirit person.
Malcolm In The Middle Guest Room - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 19 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
Lynda again picked up on the theme of sick people and a hospital. This room is actually next door to the Penthouse, where this information was picked up earlier. Lynda felt that there was a young woman sitting by the window with a book in her hand. She felt that this was the woman picked up on earlier form the hallway. She felt that this woman was confined to this room, possible in quarantine or isolation.
Piano Room - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 10 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
Lynda picked up on a man who seemed to be connected with the piano, but not the house. She was able to give a clear description of the man but unfortunately, the owners are unable to confirm if this was the previous owner of the piano.
Penthouse - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 13 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
In this room, Lynda felt the presence of several people who seemed to be very ill. She got the impression that the building was perhaps used to house sick or injured people, probably during the war. Lynda picked up on a separate energy while we were doing the walkround. She picked up on an old man standing by the window laughing at us. She felt that this man shows himself regularly but not in the presence of Jules (owner) as he is scared of Jules.
Bryony’s Room - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 19 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
During the walkround, Lynda felt that this room would have been used as an office and got the impression of a very important man sitting behind a desk in this room.
Coronation Street - Psychic Medium Walkround
Base Temp – 13 degrees
Base EMF – no readings
Walkround - Lynda felt that activity would be picked up in this room by people staying there. She could sense a nondescript shadow, but was unable to get any more information. During the walkround, a whisper was heard by some members of the team.
Investigation Experiments
Penthouse - Mark Solo Vigil
Mark commenced the night's experiments by conducting a solo vigil in the Penthouse guest room. He filmed using Digital Hi 8 Camcorder and set up digital and analogue audio recording equipment fitted with various microphones. During this vigil Mark felt a cold shiver and cold feelings around his head and at different points during the vigil he felt sudden cold breezes or drafts. This seemed to be characteristic of the team's first investigation results in this room two months previous. Mark also felt at one point as though something had prodded his leg, although he did try to explain this off as an involuntary muscle twitch. Nothing unusual was picked up on the camcorder footage during this experiment. Mark asked a series of questions in the hope of capturing replies on his audio recording equipment and managed to record the following anomalous voices, "Fraser, Mark", "it's up to Peter", "remember me". At one point Mark asked how many spirit people were present in the room with him and a distinctivce reply was recorded, "three". Still photographs taken during Mark's solo vigil produced nothing unusual and both temperature and EMF readings remained unchanged throughout these experiments.
Bryony’s Room
Details – Filming using Mini DV camcorder
While Mark was conducting his solo vigil and experiments Lisa, Frances, Lynda, Christine, Sam and Jules conducted a filmed vigil in Bryony's Room. Lisa recorded this vigil using a night vision camcorder. Almost everyone present seemed to felling something in the room during this vigil. Some people were feeling cold spots and cold breezes. Some people were seeing lights on the walls. During this vigil three of the team witnessed something moving out in the hallway, the light shining underneath the door was interrupted briefly as if somebody had walked past. The team knew that there was nobody else moving around the house at this time as everyone was accounted for. Lynda picked up on the smell of fish cooking. This bedroom is well away from the kitchen and there was nothing being cooked at this time. Although the noises and lights were not picked up on the camcorder footage, the camera kept going out of focus for no apparent reason. At times this seemed to coincide with things that people in the room were experiencing. Sam and Lynda felt that there was a young girl called Sarah present in the room. Lisa felt a freezing cold sensation on part of her leg but this lasted only seconds. Noises were also heard during this vigil, but the team could not figure out where they were coming from and a rational explanation was assumed. Still photographs taken during this vigil produced nothing unusual and both temperature and EMF readings remained unchanged.
Penthouse
For the next part of the investigation Mark, Christine and Sam conducted a filmed vigil in the Penthouse guest room. During this vigil, the team felt various cold spots and breezes which could not be explained. This again matched previous findings in this room and gave the impression of moving around the room from person to person. Mark felt as though something prodded his leg again as happened during his earlier solo vigil, he was sitting in the same spot as before and felt the sensation on a different part of his leg, coincidence? There were noises heard by the team but unfortunately these were not picked up on the camcorder footage. Sam stated that she could sense the presence of small girl in this room. The rest of this vigil passed off without incident and camcorder footage produced nothing unusual. No unsual readings were picked up on our EMF meters and the temperature in the room remained constant.
Coronation Street
Frances, Lynda and Jules conducted a vigil in the Coronation Street guest room. Frances used a digital voice recorder to attempt to pick up on anomalous noises or voices. Lynda felt freezing cold during this vigil and again was picking up on some kind of nondescript shadow that appeared to moving at the back wall of the room. She was unsure if she was picking up on a spirit person or just the residual energy of a previous occurence in the room. Jules could also see something moving in the corner. Lynda picked up on a fisherman, knee-deep in water. The remainder of this vigil passed off without incident and nothing was picked up on the digital voice recorder operated by Frances.
Bryony’s Room - Lisa Solo Vigil
While the team were investigating elsewhere, Lisa decided to conduct a solo vigil in Bryony's Room. She filmed the session with a night vision camcorder and oprated some audio recording equipment. Lisa heard noises just outside the door but unfortunately these were too indistinct to be picked up on camcorder or audio recorder. Lisa opened the door to check that there was no-one wandering about and found nothing. The room felt very quiet. Lisa proceded to ask relevant questions whilst operating the audio recorder and the follwoing replies were recorded, "McDonald" in response to asking for a surname, "Im here to say thank you" and "are you there". Interestingly enough, the name Mcdonald was captured at two different times on two different recorders during these experiments. The camcorder footage from this experiment did not show any distinctive results and all EMF and temperature readings remained unchanged.
Summary
The psychic walkround brought a lot of information but unfortunately we could not get any verfifcation of the findings through our experiments. The EVP experiments produced some extremely interesting results over both investigations and certain patterns emerged with regards to phenomena that was experienced in different areas of the house. The cold breezes in the Penthouse guest room occurred during most experiments, but no rational explanation was found. Was it a coincidence that Mark felt prodded on the leg at two different times during experiments in the Penthouse? The surname McDonald was picked up twice on two different audio recorders in response to asking for a surname. Very few anomalies were recorded on our film footage except for two light anomalies in the Penthouse and a sound anomaly in the Malcolm In The Middle guest room. Nothing unusual was picked up in our still photographs and all EMF readings and temprature readings remained constant with our base readings through both investigations.
