Finlarig Castle Paranormal Investigation Report

Finlarig Castle

Investigation Date: Saturday 1st May 2004
Temperature: 9 C

Finlarig Castle
Located in Killin, Stirlingshire, Finlarig castle was built in the early 17th century by feared clan chief Black Duncan of Glen Orchy.Alongside the main building there is also a mausoleum, a beheading pit, a hanging tree where many alleged executions took place and also the gravestones of the Marquis and Marchioness of Breadalbane. The castle and the mausoleum are now in ruins.

The Investigation
We began by taking photographs, camcorder footage, temperature readings and EMF readings from all areas of the castle during daylight hours. All temperature and EMF readings were normal and nothing was picked up on camera. We returned to the castle site just before sundown to continue the investigation. As before, we took photographs, camcorder footage, temperature readings and EMF readings. Nothing of any significance was picked up using the EMF meter in any areas of the castle. There were however many strange fluctuations in the temperature readings. Where the temperature had been fairly constant varying from 7C to 9C, in two particular areas we recorded extremely low readings, around a particular area on one of the outside walls of the castle we recorded -22C. An area in the mausoleum also provided strange fluctuations in temperature, our infra red thermometer actually went off the lower end of its scale which means the temperature recorded would have been under -30C.
Although some of the photographs taken did look particularly eerie, they did not show anything unexplainable. However, we did pick up some light anomalies on the camcorder. There is one in particular that we cannot explain as it appears to emerge from one wall and disappear into another, click here to view the video (the video is a WMV Windows Media Player file and therefore is of reduced quality).

This is only a very brief summary of our full report. Please contact us for more details, photos and video clips from ourFinlarig Castle investigation.
